Football Australia’s 2025 National Futsal Championships showcased another action-packed day of futsal.
Almost 6,000 fans, players and family members packed into the State Netball and Hockey Centre to watch over 50 games across the seven pitches, and the best players in the country did not disappoint, delivering a thrilling day of matches.
Day two of the tournament saw mixed results for Northern NSW Football but all five teams showed large signs of improvement throughout.
The under-13s girls fell short in their match against Football Queensland Maroon, as they went down 4-2. NNSWF took a 2-0 lead with goals from Rose Harvey and Ella Ford but were unable to hold on after a tough fight.
NNSWF’s under-14s boys were unable to find their first win of the tournament on day two, going down 9-1 to Capital Football. Taj Gray netted his first goal of the competition.
The under-15s girls went down 6-1 to Football NSW Thunder with Emmeline Howard netting her third goal of the tournament.
The under-16s boys showed big improvement on day two after a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Football NSW Lightning in their first match of the day. Charlie Spokes and Minh Tran each got their names on the scoresheet.
The side then secured their first win of the tournament defeating Football Tasmania 4-2. Griffin Hall had a stand-out performance netting all four goals.
NNSWF’s open women’s team also got their first win after a 5-2 victory over Football NSW Lightning. Shannon Day and Willow Neal each scored their first goal of the tournament while Jessica Hayes netted two to secure the win.
NNSWF Futsal Manager Damon Shaw was delighted with the improvement displayed by all teams on the second day of competition.
“There were some real key moments and positives to take out of all games today that we will take with us into the final stages of the competition,” Shaw said.
“All teams displayed massive signs of improvement, especially our under-16s boys, who really took on the coach’s feedback from day one.
“This tournament is all about development for our players, with the main focus on the process over results.
“I look forward to another great day of competition.”
