Stony Brook women’s soccer sophomore defender Emanuelly Ferreria was selected to the 14-player U.S. Women’s Futsal National Team roster for the 2025 Concacaf Women’s Futsal Championship.
The championship will be held April 28 through May 4 at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Ferreira was one of 12 players that took part in the Futsal Women’s National Team’s (WNT) first-ever international matches at Costa Rica in February. The squad earned 2-0 and 5-0 wins before playing to a 2-2 draw. Ferreira made her international debut with the WNT in a 2-2 draw with Costa Rica, scoring a goal to draw level late in the first half.
The team aims to qualify for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, slated for this November in the Philippines. Ferriera and the U.S. Futsal WNT open the confederation championship against the winner of a play-in match between Honduras and Nicaragua (April 29, 7 pm ET), before taking on Costa Rica (April 30, 7 pm ET) and finish group play against Canada (May 1, 7 pm ET). From there, the top two teams advance to the semifinals on May 3, with the winners qualifying for the Philippines and advancing to the final the following day.
Ferreria, from Lowell, Massachusetts, played in 20 games for the Seawolves during the 2024 fall season, recording 805 minutes, totaling one goal and four assists for six points.
Officially launched in 2022, the U.S. Futsal WNT began a year-and-a-half talent identification process the following year and held its first full National Team training camp last July. In preparation for the qualifying tournament, the Futsal WNT has held three camps in 2025, including the series of friendly matches against Costa Rica in late February and early March. The 2025 Concacaf Women’s Futsal Championship will mark the side’s first matches in official competition.
