Morocco’s women’s futsal team are one game away from etching their name in history as they face Tanzania in the final of the first CAF Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat.
Kick-off is at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1) at the Prince Moulay Abdellah indoor arena and fans can catch the action live on Arriyadia HD.
The hosts enter the fray riding high on momentum and confidence, having swept through the group stage with a perfect record and huge scoreline before cruising past Angola in the semi-final.
Head coach Adel Sayeh said his players’ discipline and determination are “the fruit of months of hard work, tactical rigour and immense national pride”. Speaking in the pre-match press conference, he said: *“This group gave everything. They followed the game plan to the letter and proved that they belong at the top.”*
The Moroccan squad, mostly made up of players who ply their trade in regular football rather than futsal, have defied expectations with professional performances and sharp tactical awareness. Sayeh pointed to high-level friendlies against the likes of Spain, Brazil and Portugal as crucial preparation: “We knew we had little time, so we opted for strong opponents to accelerate the learning curve. That decision paid off.”
Their opponents, Tanzania, have also impressed en route to the final and will pose a stern test. Sayeh promised the same level of preparation and focus: “Finals aren’t played. They are won. We will analyse Tanzania thoroughly. The goal is to keep the trophy at home and make Morocco proud.”
CAF president Patrice Motsepe landed earlier today in Rabat to attend the final.
Score Prediction:
Expect a thrilling, end-to-end affair. Morocco’s tactical discipline and home support should tip the balance.
Verdict: Morocco 4-2 Tanzania
