SURABAYA – Surabaya City Police (Polrestabes) investigated allegations of violence against children that occurred in the elementary school level futsal competition arena (SD).
The perpetrator, as recorded in a video circulating on social media, is a person who is known as a futsal coach from the team against the victim.
“The police have picked up the ball, went to school, and have processed the crime scene,” said Head of the Public Relations Section (Kasi Humas) of the Surabaya Police AKP Rina Shanty Dewi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 29.
It happened last weekend, when the Ibtidaiyah madrasah (MI) team in the North Surabaya region won with a score of 4-2 against elementary school (SD) located in East Surabaya in the semifinals of the inter-SD futsal competition in Surabaya.
The MI players then celebrated to celebrate their team’s victory which advanced to the final round.
However, in the middle of the celebration, the player with the initials BAIM who contributed two goals for his team’s victory, was suddenly pulled by the opposing team coach until he was heavily slammed and fell on his back.
The X-rays stated that the 11-year-old had a broken tail.
AKP Rina explained that the victim’s parents had sent an official report to the Surabaya Police on Sunday night, April 27, 2025.
The report was immediately investigated by investigators at the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the Surabaya Police.
“Until now, we have examined as many as seven witnesses involved at that time,” said AKP Rina.
The police have yet to reveal the motive of the coach with the initials BAZ who committed violence against the boy who was a player from his opposing team.
The provisional suspicion was triggered by the coach who did not accept his team’s defeat.
The 33-year-old coach has not yet been named a suspect.
“Currently, the investigation is still ongoing. Later, if a criminal element has been found, the status will be upgraded to an investigation and at that time we will determine the suspect,” said AKP Rina.
