EASTON, Mass. (January 15, 2025) – Stonehill College women’s soccer first-year midfielder, Martha Lord has been invited to the inaugural U.S. Women’s Futsal National Team Camp of 2025, the team announced on Monday.
“Being a part of camp for the U.S. Women’s Futsal National Team is a tremendous step for Martha in this landscape,” noted Stonehill College head coach Alex Wilson. “She is a fiery competitor and just loves playing – her unique skill set as a futsal goalkeeper shows when she’s on the field for us; she reads the ball well and can anticipate an opponent’s ideas. I know all of us within the program her are excited to hear about her experiences and support her.”
Lord, who was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week during the 2024 season, was one of only two first-year players to appear in every game and secure at least 15 starting assignments for the Skyhawks. The Bedford, New Hampshire native recorded four points on the season, scoring a goal and registering two assists. Her first career goal was particularly memorable, serving as the game-winner in Stonehill’s historic 1-0 victory over Quinnipiac on August 29—marking the program’s first-ever NCAA Division I non-conference win.
Before her standout freshman season at Stonehill, Lord was selected as one of 18 players to participate in the U.S. Women’s Futsal National Team’s first full training camp from July 29 to August 2 at the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, where she was one of three goalkeepers. This January marks her second invitation to the U.S. Futsal National Team camp. She is the only player from New England on the roster and one of just five active NCAA athletes invited.
This camp is the first of three training sessions leading up to the Concacaf Women’s Futsal Championship, which serves as the qualification tournament for the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup. After the January camp, the team will gather in San Jose, Costa Rica, from February 21 to March 2 for international matches. Final preparations will take place in early April, culminating in the selection of the roster for the Concacaf Women’s Futsal Championship later that month.
