
PITTSBURGH – Former Pitt standout Keera Melenhorst is among a 25-30 player candidate pool invited to participate in the Canadian Women’s Futsal National Team Camp in Montreal (March 27-30). The team will be paired down to 14 players (12 field and two goalies) who will compete in the first Concacaf Futsal Championship in Guatemala City, Guatemala (April 28 – May 4).
Melenhorst finished her Pitt career with 29 points on (8 goals, 13 assists) over 62 games (47 starts). She helped the Panthers to a 40-17-7 record with a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program’s first Elite Eight trip in 2023.
The Concacaf competition begins April 28 with a single Play-In match between Honduras and Nicaragua, with the winner advancing to the Group Stage. Round-robin group stage will take place from April 29 to May 1, after which the top two group winners will advance to the Knockout Stage.
The Knockout Stage will include single-match direct elimination semifinals May 3, followed by the final May 4, where the confederation’s champion will be crowned. The two finalists will also qualify for the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup Philippines 2025.
The FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup will take place in the Philippines between November 21 and December 7, 2025, and will include 16 teams from across six confederations.
Canada is in Group B, along with the United States, Costa Rica, and either Honduras or Nicaragua for the Concacaf Futsal Championship. The competition’s complete match schedule is available here.
