The Vietnamese women’s futsal team extended their impressive streak at the 2024 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship with a big win over host Philippines 6-19/11 last night in the fourth round of the group stage.
Tran Thi Lan Mai (double), Le Thi Thanh Ngan, Nguyen Phuong Anh, Tran Thi Thu Xuan and K’Thua took turns “breaking the opponent’s net” to bring victory to the home team.
In this encounter, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoang’s students did not have too much difficulty controlling the game. However, it was not until the 13th minute that Vietnam’s women’s futsal team broke the deadlock when Campo cleared the ball and hit Tran Thi Lan Mai, accidentally creating a pass for this player to shoot diagonally from the left wing, scoring a goal for the home team.
After the goal, our girls continued to dominate the game but it was not until the 21st minute that they doubled the gap thanks to Le Thi Thanh Ngan.
The Philippines then fought back and scored a goal to reduce the score to 1-2 with a beautiful curling goal from Campo. However, that was all the host team of the 2025 Women’s Futsal World Cup could do in this match.
Just 1 minute after Campo’s goal, Phuong Anh made a beautiful connection to raise the score to 3-1 for the Vietnamese women’s team.
In the 30th minute, Lan Mai headed the ball close to the goal to complete her double in this match and put Vietnam up 4-1.
Thu Xuan then performed a solo technique before firing a “cannon shot” to score the fifth goal for the Vietnamese women’s futsal team, before K’Thua curled the ball into the net from close range in the 31st minute to seal a 6-1 victory.
This victory helped the Vietnamese futsal team win all three matches, with 9 points like Thailand to take the lead thanks to a better goal difference (+13 compared to +9).
Since the start of the tournament, Vietnam women’s futsal team has defeated Myanmar (5-2), Indonesia (5-0) and the Philippines (6-1). Meanwhile, Thailand has defeated Indonesia (1-0), the Philippines (7-0) and Myanmar (2-1).
