Set in two weekends in January 2025, the Springfield Futsal Shootout is expected to generate almost $900,000 for the Queen City.
The Shootout — presented by the Springfield Sports Commission in collaboration with Lake Country Soccer, SWMO Rush and Betty & Bobby Allison Sports Town — will start with the girl’s tournament Jan. 3-5, followed by the boys’ tournament Jan. 10-12, according to a Visit Springfield, Missouri, press release.
The Springfield Futsal Shootout tournaments will host about 180 teams over the course of the two weekends in January, with all games being held at Betty & Bobby Allison Sports Town, according to the press release. About 1,000 hotels room night rentals are expected over the two weekend period.
Futsal is a play on soccer, with five players per team on a smaller field. The field is usually indoor and typically played on a hardcourt, like a basketball court.
With half the teams traveling from outside of Springfield, the girls’ tournament is expected to generate $393,000 in direct spending and the boys’ tournament is expected to generate $497,000, according to the press release.
“While we’ve always enjoyed hosting the event in Branson, we’re thrilled to bring it home to Springfield,” John Markey, executive director of Lake Country Soccer, said in the release.
“Our partnership with the Sports Commission and Allison Sports Town has allowed us to deliver an outstanding event that will greatly benefit the Springfield community economically.”
