The Cleveland City Council dedicated a new futsal field at Blythe-Oldfield Park this week.
This field is now open and ready to be used, according to the City of Cleveland.
Cleveland Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Chattanooga Football Club to host futsal and soccer camps at this new facility.
Futsal is a fast-paced variation of soccer, which is usually played on smaller fields. The court is 125 feet by 65 feet, with an artificial turf.
The Tennessee Department of Health awarded the city an $80,000 Healthy Built Environment Grant, which supported this new addition.
This grant is meant to “create healthy built environments to protect, promote, and improve the health and prosperity of all Tennesseans.”
The city says they will also install fencing around the facility to ensure a safe environment.
“The new field at Oldfield reflects our continued commitment to expanding high-quality recreational opportunities while strengthening the vitality of Cleveland’s neighborhoods,” said Mayor Kevin Brooks. “We are proud to leverage state resources and strong partnerships to deliver projects that directly improve community health, wellness, and quality of life.”
