The national women’s futsal team officially gathered at the District 8 Sports Center in Ho Chi Minh City, where they are preparing for the upcoming 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship. As of March 25, 2025, 12 out of the planned 18 athletes have reported for training, with the remaining six expected to join after the conclusion of the National Women’s Football Cup 2025, which wraps up in early April.
During their first practice session, which took place on March 24, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang led the players through light exercises and tactical drills. This initial training aimed to help the team regain their rhythm and adapt to the coach’s strategies. The coaching staff has conducted research into the playing styles of their first two rivals in the tournament: the Philippines and Hong Kong (China). Strategies to counter these teams have been devised based on their recent games.
Details about their next stage reveal that the team is also preparing to face a more formidable opponent: Iran. The head coach pointed out that their previous encounters with Iran at the China Open have provided valuable insights into how to approach their matches, aiding in their plan to build a solid competitive strategy.
In the initial weeks of training, with only 12 players present, the coaching staff has been proactive in crafting suitable workout sessions. Additionally, they have established an online training framework where the remaining athletes will have access to video resources. This initiative intends to facilitate a smoother reintegration for the players upon their return to the squad.
Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang evaluated the progress made over the past year, noting that the players have shown significant improvement and secured notable achievements through international competitions. He emphasized that this concentrated training session will focus on enhancing three key aspects: fitness, strength, and physique, which is critical given that their competitors in the championship are generally stronger and more physically imposing.
Moreover, the team’s tactical approach will be refined to prevent predictability and address weaknesses identified during prior qualifying rounds.
Captain Thanh Hang expressed the enthusiasm within the team during this first training session, remarking on the excitement shared among players as they embark on preparing for the Asia Finals. They have been placed in Group B of the tournament, alongside Iran, Hong Kong (China), and the Philippines. With a strategic and well-organized preparation plan in place, goals are set high as the team aspires to achieve remarkable results in this prestigious tournament.
The Vietnamese women’s futsal team is determined to build on their past experiences and come into the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship ready to compete fiercely. With a commitment to improvement and success, this upcoming tournament could see them making a strong statement on the continental stage.
